A Look at How I Do the Diffs for p3net by Roswell on Sun Jul 20, 2008 7:33 pm
I've recently been asked numerous times how I managed to get the revisions for p3net working in the manner for which I did. That manner is pretty simple -- the diffs are stored in the database after being generated Text_Diff-0.2.1, a package in the PEAR library that ships with phpBB by default for use with the auto updater.

Using Text_Diff to get a diff is pretty easy. You simple include the class and do a simple
Code: Select all
$diff = new diff($old_content$new_content);
That will return an array of the changes per line. I then serialize and gzdeflate the array to save space, and then store it in the database.

The magic happens when...

Stolen Q's by nilamo on Thu Jul 17, 2008 1:45 am
That's right, I'm admitting my thievery.

Questions for the world:
1. What's your favorite article of clothing? Jeans. Blue.
2. What's your favorite childhood memory? Playing with my awesomtastic dog.
3. Scariest moment of your life?
4. One word that would best describe you? Spontaneous.
5. If your friends and aquantances were willing to bluntly tell you what they really think of you, would you want them to? I've already asked a few of them to do so, so I guess "yes".
6. What is your favorite month in the summer? The first one, April is it? After that, it's just TOO hot.
7. Water balloon or super soaker? Super Soaker. It doubles as a melee weapon once empty.
8. What's your favorite number? 7, that's the number of letters in "banana" +1 , the most amazing word ever.
9. What is the nicest thing anyone ever said to you? "Toaster!"
10. What is your favorite Disney movie? I don't know which ones were Disney's. Shrek?

Literary Agents, Writes Literary Agency by devequeandrais on Wed Jul 16, 2008 6:47 pm
Well I've been doing some research on this too. and here is at first glance and for that matter, even a legit place,
[url=http://www.wlwritersagency.com/]Writers literary Agency{/url] But while going through there site I noticed a trend, on their Thank you letters. Seems a lot of people ended up paying for a critique, $85.00 Not much, but it was a trend.

Am I saying getting a professional critique is bad? No. But if you aren't expecting it... See I'm learning this too. though I have been published, I have never been paid for my work. so this is a new world to me, not something I deal in every day. Hopefully the learning process will pay off for more than just myself. Happy Writing!

What's up y'all? by Brent on Wed Jul 16, 2008 3:08 am
Hello and welcome to Code Bonanza, I'm your host Brent. I'll be diving into different aspects of programming and maybe code samples on how P3NET Desktop works. Yes, I know, I'm the developer behind P3NET Desktop (which is being rebuilt in C++ :o ).
